Google Ads integration
Convertss imports your closed-won offline conversions into your own Google Ads account, and reads back the campaign metrics for those conversions so you can see the result in one place. This page documents precisely what the integration does, what it asks permission for, where data goes, and how to switch it off.

At a glance
What we write
Offline click conversions — a gclid, a conversion timestamp, a conversion value and currency, and an optional order ID — uploaded to a conversion action you choose inside your own Google Ads account.
What we read
Your conversion actions (to let you pick one) and campaign-level performance for the conversions we uploaded: impressions, clicks, cost, conversions and conversion value, by day and by campaign.
How we're authorised
Google OAuth 2.0. You approve on Google's own consent screen. We request one scope — https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords — and nothing else.
How you switch it off
Dashboard → Ads → Credentials → Disconnect, or revoke Convertss from your Google Account permissions page. Either path deletes our stored tokens and cached Google Ads data.
What the integration does
Most advertisers optimise Google Ads on the form fill, because that is the last event the browser can see. The sale happens days or weeks later, in a CRM, and Google never hears about it — so Smart Bidding keeps bidding toward leads rather than customers. Convertss closes that loop:
- 1
Capture the click
When a visitor lands on your site from a Google Ads click, the Convertss form or chatbot widget records the
gclid(andgbraid/wbraidfor app and iOS traffic) present on the URL, and stores it against the lead for 90 days. - 2
You mark the deal closed
In the Convertss dashboard — or through your CRM sync — you mark a lead closed-won and enter the deal value. Nothing is sent to Google before this step.
- 3
We upload the conversion
Convertss calls the Google Ads API
uploadClickConversionsendpoint against the conversion action you selected, sending the gclid, the conversion time, the value and currency, and an order ID where you have one. Uploads run with partial failure enabled so one bad row never discards the batch. - 4
You see the result
We read back campaign performance segmented by that conversion action, so the push log and the Google-side numbers sit next to each other. Every upload attempt is recorded per lead with its Google response, including the exact error text on failure.
Permissions we request
| OAuth scope | Why we need it |
|---|---|
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords | The only scope Google publishes for the Google Ads API. It is what lets us list the conversion actions in your account, upload offline conversions to the one you pick, and read the campaign metrics we display back to you. |
- We request no Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts or profile scopes.
- The refresh token lives server-side only. It is never sent to the browser and never exposed in any API response.
- You authorise per Google Ads account. Connecting one account gives Convertss no access to any other account in your Google login.
What data flows where
Convertss → Google Ads
- gclid / gbraid / wbraid
- The click identifier Google itself put on the landing-page URL.
- Conversion date-time
- When the deal closed, in your account timezone.
- Conversion value + currency
- The deal value you entered.
- Order ID (optional)
- Your own reference, used by Google for de-duplication.
- Hashed email / phone (optional)

Google Ads → Convertss
- Conversion actions
- ID, name, status, category and type — so you can choose one.
- Upload results
- Per-row success or the Google error message, stored on the lead.
- Campaign metrics
- Impressions, clicks, cost, conversions and conversion value by day and campaign.
- Account identity
- Customer ID and the Google account email that approved the connection, shown back so you can confirm you connected the right one.
Where it is stored, and for how long
Tokens and Google Ads data are stored in our MongoDB Atlas cluster, scoped to your workspace by owner ID so no other Convertss customer can read them. Metrics we read from Google Ads are cached only to render your dashboard, and are deleted when you disconnect or close your account. We retain operational data while your account is active plus a 30-day grace period — see the Privacy Policy.
Limited Use commitment
Convertss accesses Google Ads data on your behalf using the Google Ads API, only after you authorise access via Google OAuth 2.0. We use this data solely to display your own campaign performance within your Convertss workspace and to import offline conversions into your own Google Ads account.
We do not sell, sublicense or transfer Google Ads data to any third party, and we do not use it to train models. Email addresses and phone numbers used for enhanced conversions are SHA-256 hashed before transmission; raw values are never sent.
Convertss's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How to disconnect
From Convertss
- Open Dashboard → Ads → Credentials.
- Find the Google Ads card and click Disconnect.
- Confirm. Pushes stop immediately and the stored refresh token is deleted.
From your Google Account
- Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Select Convertss and choose Remove access.
- Our stored token stops working at once; we delete it and the cached data.
Disconnecting stops future uploads. Conversions already imported into Google Ads belong to your account — remove them from Google Ads itself if you need them gone.
Advertiser responsibilities
- Only upload conversions for users who consented to it, as required by Google's EU user consent policy and your local law.
- You remain the data controller for your leads. Convertss processes them on your instructions — see the Privacy Policy and Terms.
- Use the Google Ads account you are authorised to act for. We do not verify account ownership beyond what Google's own consent screen enforces.
